Wessex Cardiology was established in 1996 and is now a group of 6 consultant cardiologists based at the Spire Hospital [previously BUPA] but working also at Southampton University Teaching Hospital. Our expertise cover most aspects of adult cardiology and we work closely with colleagues in similar groups in Southampton covering cardiac surgery, cardiac radiology, congenital heart disease and electrophysiology.
The Partners in Wessex Cardiology LLP, and our colleagues, are all well qualified, have held various leadership positions, have published widely and are well recognised nationally and internationally.
Wessex Cardiology therefore offers those seeking cardiac expert opinion for medicolegal purposes a single track to prompt and informed medical opinion. Solicitors will always be given the opportunity to specify their preferred consultant within Wessex Cardiology, but many may wish to accept our recommendation based on our knowledge of the expertise of our colleagues and their ability to undertake the work promptly.
We charge an hourly rate of £200. The total charge for an initial report will vary depending on the amount of documentation received for review; experience has shown that the time required for preparing a report is usually in the range 4-8 hours. Exceptionally more time may be required but this would be notified to the instructing solicitor in advance. Reports will be normally be written and returned to the instructing solicitor within 8 weeks of receipt of all the appropriate documentation. If preferred, a better estimate of the time required can be given after an initial overview of the documentation received.
